Setup your indoor sensor
Open the NoiseAware app from your phone.
From the main screen of the NoiseAware app, select the button at the top left to open the menu
Select Setup sensor
Select Indoor sensor
Select Begin Setup
The next step is to plug in your indoor sensor in an area that is in a central location and out in the open. The sensor should be installed within 75 feet of your router, and should also have a clear line of sight to the router.
You want to avoid installing next to the following:
- Behind a couch
- Under/Behind a TV
- In the kitchen/bathroom
- Around plumbing/large metal objects
- Appliances such as a A/C unit or dishwasher
If you would like to read more detailed information regarding installation location, please refer to Selecting your Indoor Sensor Location
Once you have chosen your outlet, remove the top or middle screw so that you can screw your sensor directly to the face plate of the outlet.
Make sure the light on the back of the sensor is slowly pulsing.
*NOTE* If there is no light, you will need to perform a hard reset of the sensor. Locate the reset button (see picture below) on the right, side panel of the sensor and hold the button down. The light will flash at a slow pace and then will quickly flash. When you see this quick flash, you can let go. The light will flash rapidly for a few seconds and should return to a slow pulse. The sensor is now in setup mode.
Now that your sensor is secured to the outlet and has a slowing flashing light, you can select Next.
Assign the indoor sensor to a specific property and choose a name for your indoor sensor. Both the Property name and the Sensor name will be included in any alerts you receive concerning this property.
Select Next when you completed the forms
You should now be immediately prompted with Connect to sensor, push this button
*NOTE* If you are having trouble seeing the pop-up below, turn off your bluetooth from your phone settings and turn the bluetooth back on.
When the phone and sensor have successfully communicated, you will see a green check mark at the top of your screen. Select Next
Choose your home network from the list of available networks within in range and enter the password to your network in the Network password box
When you have successfully connected the sensor to your router, you will see the below pop up. Select Save credentials
*NOTE* If you do not receive the Save credentials pop-up, there is likely an issue with the password provided. Please double check your wifi password.
You will now be asked to take a picture of the sensor and its install location.
It is best to take a wide angle shot (10 feet away) that includes the sensor and the surrounding environment.
This will come in handy when reviewing any alerts from that property, and troubleshooting any potential issues.
Your sensor is now finalizing setup of the device. Please allow up to 2 minutes for this process to complete.
Do not exit the app or let your phone timeout.
*NOTE* If you are still getting stuck on this page, log in or contact the router's system administrator and make sure there are no firewalls or restrictions from connecting an IoT device. NoiseAware works best when connecting to a 2.4ghz 802.11 wifi network. This is a common household wifi network.
You have successfully set you your Indoor Noise Monitoring Sensor.
If you want to add another sensor you can select Setup another sensor and then follow the same steps you just went through to setup your Indoor sensor. Otherwise you are now ready to adjust your thresholds
